Voodoo Game

This voodoo game is set in New Orleans in 1853, some twelve years before slavery was officially abolished by the Thirteenth Amendment to the American Constitution which took effect on December 18, 1865. In those days there were thousands of black slaves in new Orleans, many having been brought over during the previous century by the French during the period between 1717–1721 to work the plantations.

One such plantation was owned by Armand Bastien, his wife Dolores Bastien and children Estelle, Bruno, Frances and Christopher Bastien. The house and plantation functioned relatively well despite one of the owner's henchmen, George Garrett, being abusive towards the slaves. The one night, after a mysterious episode involving George and one of the slaves, Maria, during which George was injured and Maria shot dead, strange events befell the Bastien family with three of the children dying in mysterious circumstances. Local rumour had it that a voodoo curse had been placed on the family in reprisal for the death of Maria.
